And whereas, in exercise of powers conferred under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, this Ministry, vide Notification No.9-1/87-U.3 dated 28.04.1989, on the advice of UGC, declared that National Museum Institute of the History of Art, Conservation and Museology, Delhi shall be an Institution deemed to be a university for the purpose of the aforesaid Act. 3. And whereas, the Registrar, National Museum Institute of the History of Art, Conservation and Museology, Delhi, vide letter no. 4(1)/NMI/2021/317 dated 26.07.2021, submitted proposal for change in nomenclature of the Institution deemed to be University from 'National Museum Institute of the History of Art, Conservation and Museology', Delhi to 'Indian Institute of Heritage' Delhi. 4. And whereas, the matter was examined in this Ministry in consultation with UGC. Considering the advice of UGC, this Ministry, vide letter 10.09.2021. conveyed in-principle approval for change of name of ‘National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology’ to ‘Indian Institute of Heritage’ for fulfillment of the following conditions: i. The Institution shall legally transfer the assets of the Institution in the new name. ii. The Institution shall revised its MoA in accordance with UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2019 and its amendment dated 18.11.2020. 5. And whereas, the Institution, vide letter No. 4(1)/NMI/2022/04 dated 10.04.2023, submitted compliance report in respect of the above conditions. The compliance report submitted by the Institution was forwarded to UGC for verification and advice. 6. And further whereas, UGC, vide letter No. 19-2/2010 (CPP-I) dated 03.08.2023, informed that the Commission considered and approved the matter in its 571st meeting held on 25.07.2023 (Item No. 2.05). 7. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, this Ministry, on the advice of UGC, hereby conveys approval for change of name of ‘National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology’, New Delhi to ‘Indian Institute of Heritage’, New Delhi. 8. This permission is further subject to the fulfilment of the conditions of earlier Notifications of this Ministry and also in compliance to the relevant norms / rules / regulations / directions issued by the Central Government, UGC and other Statutory Councils, from time to time.
