And whereas, an online application dated 31.10.2023 was submitted by Bodhi Niketan Trust on UGC’s Portal for grant of Institution Deemed to be University status under general Category in the name of Kristu Jayanti, K. Narayanapura, Kothanur P O, Bengaluru, Karnataka under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. 3. And whereas, UGC, vide its letter No. 26-5/2023 (CPP-I/DU) dated 11.04.2025, informed that the application was examined by its Expert committee in accordance with the UGC (Institutions deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2023. The Expert Committee observed that there is a gap of 2nd and 3rd cycle of NAAC Accreditation of Kristu Jayanti, Bengaluru, Karnataka, hence, the Committee did not recommend for deemed to be University status under the UGC Regulations, 2023. 4. And further whereas, Ministry, vide letter dated 03.06.2025 requested certain clarification from UGC regarding fulfilment of eligibility conditions by the Institution. In response, UGC vide its letter No. 26-5/2023(CPP-I/DU) dated 23.06.2025 informed that the gap period between two cycles of NAAC accreditation was condoned by NAAC in case of Kristu Jayanti, Bengaluru, Karnataka. 5. Now, therefore, in exercise of powers conferred under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, the Ministry of Education, considering the clarifications provided by UGC, hereby declares Kristu Jayanti, K. Narayanapura, Kothanur P O, Bengaluru, Karnataka as an Institution deemed to be University under general category. The said declaration is subject to the following conditions: i. Kristu Jayanti, Bengaluru shall not admit students in the professional courses before obtaining the approval of relevant statutory body, wherever applicable. ii. There shall be no diversion of assets or funds/revenues of the Institution deemed to be University/or of its constituent teaching units, without prior permission of the UGC and Ministry of Education. iii. Kristu Jayanti, Bengaluru shall not engage or indulge in any activities that are of commercial and profit making in nature. iv. The academic programmes to be offered at Kristu Jayanti, Bengaluru shall conform to the norms and standards prescribed by the UGC and the Statutory Councils/Bodies concerned. v. Kristu Jayanti, Bengaluru shall align its courses with National Education Policy-2020. vi. Kristu Jayanti, Bengaluru shall take all the required steps to get all the eligible academic courses/programmes rated for valid accreditation by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the Institute to get valid accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), as the case may be, in terms of the provisions as contained in the UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2023, as amended from time to time. vii. All the prescribed norms and procedures of the Statutory Councils concerned in the matter of admission of students, intake capacity of students, renewal of approval to the academic course / programme, revision of intake capacity of students, starting of new courses / programmes, etc. shall continue to be in force, and shall be adhered to by Kristu Jayanti, Bengaluru. viii. Kristu Jayanti, Bengaluru shall submit MoA in accordance with UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2023 to UGC. Further, as and when necessary, it shall update or revise or modify its MoA / Rules, as per the provisions of the prevailing Regulations. ix. Kristu Jayanti, Bengaluru shall follow the fee structure as per the Rules and Regulations of the UGC and relevant Statutory Councils. x. Kristu Jayanti, Bengaluru shall participate in annual Indian rankings issued by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of this Ministry. xi.
