The Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways is focused on developing and maintaining National Highways (NHs) in the Pune Metropolitan Region to alleviate traffic congestion. Several projects are underway, including:
1. Construction of Integrated structures of Chandani Chowk of NH-48. This was completed in March, 2024.
2. Construction of Six lane flyover at Katraj Junction at km 3/880 of NH 548DD, targeted for completion in June, 2026.
3. Concreting of the service/slip road of the Pune-Satara section of NH-48 (41 km), targeted for completion in June, 2027.
4. Construction of elevated corridors from Nashik Phata to Khed section of NH-60 (30 km), targeted for completion in March, 2030.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is studying the feasibility of an elevated corridor from Ravet to Narhe section of NH-48. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) for developing elevated corridors/ capacity augmentation in Pune – Shirur section of NH-753F, Talegaon – Chakan – Shikarpur section of NH-548D and Hadapsar – Yavat section of NH-65. Regular meetings are being held between NHAI, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and other State and Central Government agencies to address pending issues and expedite project completion. Government in Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways is primarily concerned with the development
and maintenance of National Highways (NHs). The details of major flyover and road- widening projects
sanctioned on various NHs in Pune Metropolitan Region to remove traffic bottlenecks and timelines for
completion of these works are as under:

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated studies to examine the feasibility for
construction of elevated corridor from Ravet to Narhe section of NH-48. In addition to this, MoU has been
signed with Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) for development of
elevated corridors/ capacity augmentation in Pune – Shirur section of NH-753F, Talegaon – Chakan –
Shikarpur section of NH-548D and Hadapsar – Yavat section of NH-65 based on technical feasibility.
To resolve the pending issues and expedite the completion of on-going development works, regular
meetings are being held between the NHAI, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune Metropolitan
Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and other agencies of the State and Central Government.
