Posted On: 08 OCT 2026 9:12PM by PIB Delhi Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi chaired the two- day Departmental Summit on Women and Child Development in New Delhi today. Minister of State, Smt. Savitri Thakur also participated in the Summit.
On X, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi wrote that “Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, this summit will further strengthen Centre-State coordination and the effective implementation of initiatives aimed at empowering women and ensuring the holistic development of children.” The Minister said that the summit will bring together Ministers of Women and Child Development from various states, along with senior officials from the Central and State Governments. She also wrote that key discussions will focus on women’s empowerment, child development, nutrition, safety, and welfare.
On X, Minister of State, Smt. Savitri Thakur wrote that “Under the able leadership of the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the Central Government is continuously working towards a safe, healthy, and dignified future for women and children.” She also wrote that experiences were shared between states and Union Territories on three important topics – strengthening Anganwadi centres further for better nutrition and early education, fortifying security arrangements for children living in vulnerable conditions, and the effective implementation of institutional and legal provisions related to women's safety.
The Minister also wrote that better coordination between the Centre and the states in the interest of women and children, exchange of experiences, and effective implementation of schemes at the grassroots level will further strengthen efforts.Chaired the two-day Departmental Summit on Women and Child Development in New Delhi today.
