The inspection was conducted in presence of the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), and senior officials of the Department of Urban Development, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). During the on-site review, MCD informed the Hon’ble Minister that till 31st July, 2026, 99.07 lakh MT legacy waste has been remediated at Bhalswa dumpsite, and the remaining mound of legacy waste is expected to be cleared by 15 October 2026, while the waste accumulated up to March 2026 is targeted for clearance by 31 December 2026.The Hon’ble Minister directed MCD that the newly awarded work for processing fresh waste arriving at the Landfill site be expedited, so that the pace of remediation is further accelerated and scientific management of incoming waste is ensured without delay.
