They emphasized the importance of KYC compliance for uninterrupted banking services and encouraged customers to enroll in social security schemes and raise any grievances. Banks are urged to collaborate with RBI and local communities to improve access to banking services and expand the reach of government financial inclusion programs.

Visits by Governor and Deputy Governors to Re-KYC Camps

Banks are engaged in a country-wide campaign, being conducted at Gram
Panchayat level from July 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025, for saturation of Financial
Inclusion (FI) schemes, as part of which, re-KYC of bank accounts is also being
undertaken. The camps are also being utilized to create awareness about unclaimed
deposits and to redress grievances. As on August 11, 2025, over 1.41 lakh camps
have been held and re-KYC in over 35 lakh accounts has been completed. The
progress in achievement of the expected outcomes is being monitored closely by the
Government and Reserve Bank.
With a view to provide further impetus to the ongoing campaigns, Governor Shri
Sanjay Malhotra visited a camp at Gozaria Gram Panchayat, Mehsana, Gujarat on
August 11, 2025. MD & CEO, Bank of Baroda was present along with Regional
Director, RBI and senior officials from other banks. During the visit, Governor
interacted with bank customers, business correspondents, Self Help Groups as well
as representatives of various banks who participated in the camp. Addressing the
participants on this occasion, Governor underscored the importance of greater
collaboration among banks, RBI and local communities to make banking services
more accessible to all citizens and to improve the coverage of various financial
inclusion schemes of the Government through these campaigns.
Earlier, Deputy Governor Shri M Rajeshwar Rao paid a visit to a camp held at
Ormanjhi Gram Panchayat in Ranchi on August 8, 2025 and reviewed the progress in
coverage of accounts under re-KYC. Regional Director, RBI and senior bank officials
were present.
On August 9, 2025, Shri. Swaminathan J, Deputy Governor visited a camp held at
Thirukandalam Gram Panchayat, Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu. MD & CEO and EDs
from Indian Bank and Indian Overseas Bank were present apart from the District
Collector, Regional Director, RBI and senior officials from other banks.
During their visits, the Deputy Governors engaged with the customers, bankers and
business correspondents. In their address, they underlined the importance of KYC and
the responsibility of customers to update their KYC details with the bank as and when
required, for getting uninterrupted and safe banking services. Customers were also
requested to make use of the opportunity to enrol themselves in various social security
schemes and to represent their grievances, if any, for redress.
The camps will continue till September 30, 2025 across all Gram Panchayats and
bank customers are advised to make full use of the services being offered in these
camps.
