The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has launched an Over-The-Top (OTT) platform named WAVES. The platform offers clean, family-friendly content and serves as a one-stop digital hub for entertainment, education, online shopping, gaming, and digital radio. It features live TV channels including Doordarshan and Akashvani, various entertainment networks like B4U, SAB Group, and 9X Media, and on-demand videos across ten popular genres.
WAVES is designed with a focus on inclusive content that caters to viewers of all ages while showcasing India's rich cultural heritage. The platform offers over 70 live TV channels, including sports documentaries, and is available in 12 languages, intending to expand further by adding more prominent Indian languages such as Konkani.
Notably, the DD Panaji content, which is primarily in Konkani, and a documentary on the life of Brahmanand Sankhwalkar, are already accessible on WAVES. The film covers his football career from when he was 15 years old. WAVES integrates with ONDC to enable online shopping through its app.
The platform aims to provide diverse content free of cost or at affordable subscription plans for premium features. Shri Sunil Bhatiya and other representatives from DD Panaji including Shri Shashin Rai and Shri Savio de Noronha were present during the press conference announcing the launch of WAVES.

WAVES is an OTT platform that offers family-friendly entertainment and more under one digital roof, said Shri
Sunil Bhatiya, Deputy Director General, Doordarshan Kendra Panaji. He was addressing a press conference at

“Waves offers a diverse range of live TV, on-demand videos, digital radio, gaming, and e-commerce—all under
one digital roof. Available on both Android and iOS devices, it is positioned as a one-stop digital hub for family-
friendly entertainment, education, and online shopping. Designed with a focus on clean and inclusive content, the
platform aims to cater to audiences of all age groups while showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage,” Shri Bhatiya
said.
Launched by Prasar Bharati in November 2024, the platform offers content in 12 languages. However, the content
will soon be available in all the prominent languages in India including Konkani, he said.
Talking about the Goan presence on the platform, he said that the DD Panaji content which is in Konkani is
available on Waves. Besides, a documentary called "Famously Found @15" which was made by DD Panaji on the
life of Brahmanand Sankhwalkar, a former Goan footballer and Indian national team captain, is also available on
the platform, he added. The film, a 40-minute documentary, covers Shri Sankhwalkar’s 25-year career, starting
from when he began playing at the age of 15.
WAVES offers over 70 Live TV channels, including Doordarshan and Akashvani channels, and major
entertainment networks like B4U, SAB Group, and 9X Media, apart from on-demand content spanning 10 popular
genres. Integration with ONDC has also enabled online shopping directly through the Waves app.
Radio streaming, video-on-demand, play-to-play gaming, dedicated content for youth and curated sections for
movies, live events, and more are what make the platform unique and a complete family-friendly package.Most of the content on Waves is available free of cost, while premium features can be accessed through
affordable subscription plans.
