Posted On: 18 SEP 2026 12:28PM by PIB Mumbai Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) launched “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026” and “Special Campaign 6.0” on 17 September 2026, under the guidance of Chairman-cum- Managing Director Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande and the leadership of Director (Human Resources) Shri Bikram Ghosh. On the occasion, a collective pledge was taken to make cleanliness an integral part of the daily work culture, with emphasis on cleanliness awareness, public participation, clean workplaces and effective waste management. Senior officers, employees and Safai Mitras of WCL actively participated in the programme.
Building on the successful achievements of Special Campaign 5.0, WCL has set enhanced targets for Special Campaign 6.0. During Special Campaign 5.0, WCL successfully carried out cleanliness and workplace improvement initiatives at 277sites across its offices, establishments and operational areas. The campaign also witnessed significant progress in the disposal of unserviceable materials and systematic record management.
Under Special Campaign 6.0, WCL has set a target to undertake cleanliness drives at 300 sites, covering approximately 6.50 lakh sq. ft. of area. The company has also set a target for the disposal of 539.65 MT of scrap, with an expected revenue generation of approximately ₹2.27 crore.
Record management will also remain a key focus area of the campaign. WCL has set targets for the review of 500 physical files and 7,500 e-files, along with the weeding out of 500 physical files and closure of 7,500 e-files. These initiatives will contribute towards the timely disposal of pending matters, systematic record management and greater efficiency in office functioning.
Under “Swachhata Hi Seva 2026”, various activities will be undertaken to promote awareness against single-use plastic, waste segregation, Waste-to-Wealth, public participation and civic responsibility. Special Campaign 6.0 will place particular emphasis on e-waste management, modern cleaning practices, optimum utilisation of available space, digitalisation, eco-friendly practices, proper disposal of unserviceable materials and the disposal of pending matters.
The campaigns will be implemented across WCL Headquarters, Areas, mines and establishments through the active participation of employees and stakeholders. The initiatives aim to transform cleanliness, efficient resource utilisation and administrative efficiency into sustained practices embedded in WCL’s organisational work culture.
