New Delhi, the 4th August, 2017
S.O.2526 (E).—Whereas, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 1 of the
Metro Railways (Construction of Works) Act, 1978 (33 of 1978), the Central Government, vide its
notification number S.O. 2625 (E), dated the 16th October, 2009 has extended the provisions of the said Act
to the metropolitan area of Chennai in the State of Tamil Nadu;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-section (1) of Section 32 of
the Metro Railways (Construction of Works) Act, 1978 (33 of 1978), the Central Government hereby adds to
the Schedule of the said Act, the following metro alignment in respect of the metropolitan area of Chennai,
namely:—
“The Metropolitan Area of Chennai
Chennai Metro Rail Project- Phase-1 Extension
Phase-1 Extension of Corridor- I Washermenpet - Sir Theagaraya College- Korukkupet -
