NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 27th September, 2018
S.O. 4994(E).— Whereas, the Department of Heavy Industry notified the scheme namely FAME-India [Faster
Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India ] vide S.O.830 (E) dated 13th March, 2015.
2. And whereas, as per Clause 4 of the FAME-India Scheme, “The Phase-I of the scheme shall be
implemented over a 2 year period i.e. FY 2015-16 and FY 2016-17 commencing from 1st April, 2015”.
3. And whereas, the Phase-I of the FAME-India Scheme was extended for a further period of six months
i.e. upto 30th September, 2017 vide S.O.1055 (E) dated 30th March, 2017; again for a further period of six months i.e.
upto 31st March, 2018 vide S.O.3013 (E) dated 12th September, 2017 and again for a further period of six months i.e.
upto 30th September, 2018 vide S.O.1657 (E) dated 13th April, 2018.
4. Now, therefore, it has been decided that the period of the FAME-India Scheme be further extended for
a further period of six months i.e. upto 31st March, 2019 or till Notification of FAME-II, whichever is earlier. The
extension is subject to the following:
(i) The benefits of incentive available to Conventional Battery Vehicles as elucidated in para 26 of the
original notification of the Scheme dated 13th March, 2015 stands discontinued w.e.f. 1st October, 2018.
(ii) Incentives in the remaining period of the scheme shall only be available for registered vehicles.
Henceforth, w.e.f. 1st October, 2018, vehicles not requiring registration shall be excluded from the scope of the scheme
irrespective of the type of battery elucidated in para 26 of the original notification of the Scheme dated 13th March,
2015.
5. This will apply mutatis mutandis to other clauses in the gazette notification, which hitherto had enabled giving
of demand incentives to unregistered vehicles and to vehicles with Conventional Battery. However, sales of such
vehicles for eligible benefits effected upto 30th September, 2018 will not be affected by this amendment.
6. Therefore, FAME-India [Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid&) Electric Vehicles in India] scheme
notification vide S.O. 830(E) dated 13th March 2015 stands amended accordingly.
