(1) These rules may be called the Central Motor Vehicles (Eighteenth Amendment) Rules, 2017. (2) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 (hereinafter referred to as the Principal rules), in rule 47, in sub rule (3), for the figure and words “(3) The modular hydraulic trailers registered under these rules”, the figure and words “(4) The modular hydraulic trailers registered under these rules”, shall be substituted. 3. In the Principal rules, in rule 47, after sub-rule (4), following sub-rule shall be inserted, namely:- “(5) All types of trailers and semitrailers covered under rule 125D, shall be registered independently. Provided that, if the owner or registering party, requests to register the trailer or semitrailer jointly with compatible towing vehicle as a single vehicle, the registering authority shall register them as a single vehicle.”.
