Short title and commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Wild Life Disposal of Wild Animal Article Rules, 2023. (2) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Definitions.—(1) In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires:- (a) “Act” means the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 (53 of 1972); (b) “incineration” means burning where the burnt material is converted into ash, gas and energy. (2) Words and expressions used herein and not defined but defined in the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 (53 of 1972) shall have the meaning, respectively, assigned to them in that Act. 3. Disposal of wild animal article, etc.—Any wild animal article, trophy or uncured trophy or meat derived from any wild animal, which is a State Government or Central Government property, as the case may be, under sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 39 shall be disposed of in the following manner, namely:- (a) the Director, Wild Life Preservation or the Chief Wild Life Warden or an Officer authorized, in writing, by the Central Government or the State Government, as the case may be, may by order direct the[भाग II—खण् ड 3(i)] भारत का रािपत्र : असाधारण 3 incineration of such Government property at such place and such date and time as mentioned in the order; (b) the incineration shall be conducted in the presence of a Committee constituted by the Chief Wild Life Warden for this purpose, consisting of the following Members, namely:- (i) an Officer not below the rank of Deputy Conservator of Forests having custody of such property; (ii) a representative of the local Gram Panchayat; (iii) a representative of the Revenue Department not below the rank of Tahsildar; (iv) an expert in the field of Wild Life; and (c) the Committee shall submit a report on the incineration to the Chief Wild Life Warden, within a period of ten days from the date of incineration. 4. Order to be signed and dated.— Every order of the Chief Wild Life Warden or the authorised Officer shall be in writing and shall be signed and dated by him. [F.
