RAJESH MISHRA: SHRI RAVINDRA SHUKLA ALIAS RAVI KISIIAN: SHRI ALOK SHARMA: SHRI BHARTRUIIARI MAHTAB: Will the Minister of CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has taken any steps to strengthen the quality monitoring mechanism for foodgrains distributed under the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the country including in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency, Odisha; (b) if so, the details thereof; and (c) the steps taken by the Government to improve the quality of foodgrains distributed under the PDS including the measures adopted and their impact in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency, Odisha and Sidhi Lok Sabha Constituency? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR MINISTRY OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD & PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION (SHRIMATI NIMUBEN JAYANTIBHAI BAMBHANIYA) (a) & (b): The Department has formulated and issued a Quality Control Manual, to uniformly maintain the quality standards of foodgrains from procurement to its distribution to the eligible beneficiaries through various social security programmes of (lol. (c): With an objective to improve the quality of rice, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on 01.07.2026 has approved nationwide rollout of supply of improved quality rice with upto 10% broken in case of raw rice and with upto 5% broken in case of parboiled rice under Pradhan Mantra Graib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) and Other Welfare Scheme (OWS). This will be undertaken in a phased manner over two years (upto KMS 2027-28). 8++++
