STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS 2026 No. 677 IMMIGRATION The Immigration (Leave to Enter and Remain) (Amendment) Order 2026 Made - - - - 23rd June 2026 Coming into force - - 6th July 2026 The Secretary of State makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3A(1), (2) and (7) of the Immigration Act 1971 (“the 1971 Act”)(1). A draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament in accordance with section 3A(13) of the 1971 Act and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament. Citation, commencement and extent 1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Leave to Enter and Remain) (Amendment) Order 2026. (2) This Order comes into force on 6th July 2026. (3) This Order extends to the United Kingdom. Amendment of the Immigration (Leave to Enter and Remain) Order 2000 2. EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order) This Order makes amendments to the Immigration (Leave to Enter and Remain) Order 2000 (S.I. 2000/1161) (“the 2000 Order”). The 2000 Order makes further provision with respect to the giving and refusing of leave to enter and remain in the United Kingdom. Article 8B of the 2000 Order enables a person who meets one of the descriptions in the article to obtain leave to enter the United Kingdom as a visitor by passing through an automated gate with no authorisation by an immigration officer. Article 2 of this Order amends the minimum age of a person passing through an automated gate from 10 to 8 years old, for nationals of a country listed in the Schedule to the 2000 Order. A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no, or no significant, impact on the private, voluntary or public sector is foreseen. 2
