Decision (EU) 2024/2308 of the European Parliament of 11 April 2024 on the closure of the accounts of the European Medicines Agency for the financial year 2022
**Summary:**
On April 11, 2024, the European Parliament adopted Decision (EU) 2024/2308 concerning the closure of the accounts of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for the financial year 2022. This decision follows a review of the EMA's final annual accounts for 2022, the Court of Auditors' annual report on EU agencies for the same financial year (including the agencies' replies), and the Court of Auditors' statement of assurance regarding the reliability of the accounts and the legality and regularity of the underlying transactions. The decision also takes into consideration the Council's recommendation of February 22, 2024, on granting discharge to the EMA in respect of the implementation of its budget for 2022. The legal basis for the decision includes Article 319 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, Regulation (EU, Euratom) 2018/1046 (the Financial Regulation), Regulation (EC) No 726/2004 (laying down Union procedures for the authorisation and supervision of medicinal products for human use and establishing a European Medicines Agency), and Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/715 (on the framework financial regulation for bodies set up under the TFEU and Euratom Treaty). The European Parliament, having considered the report of the Committee on Budgetary Control A9-0133/2024, formally approves the closure of the EMA's accounts for the financial year 2022. The President of the European Parliament is instructed to forward the decision to the Executive Director of the EMA, the Council, the Commission, and the Court of Auditors, and to arrange for its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union L series.
