(1) द्वारा प्रित्त िजियों का प्रयोग करत े हुए, िनगणना जनयम, 1990 का और संिोधन करने के जलए जनम्नजलजखत जनयम बनाती ह,ै अर्ाात:् —

1. सजं िप्त नाम और प्रारंभ-- (1) इन जनयमों का संजिप्त नाम िनगणना (संिोधन) जनयम, 2026 ह।ै

(2) य ेरािपत्र में उनके प्रकािन की तारीख से प्रवृत्त होंगे।

2. िनगणना जनयम, 1990 के जनयम 3 की, सारणी म,ें क्रम सख्ं या 5 के सामने, स्ट्तंभ (2) के अधीन प्रजवजियों के स्ट्र्ान पर जनम्नजलजखत प्रजवजियां रखी िाएंगी, अर्ाता ्: — “(i) सरकार, स्ट्र्ानीय प्राजधकरण, सहायता प्राप्त या असहायता प्राप्त जनिी जनकायों, सोसायटीयों या न्द्यासों की दकसी िैिजणक संस्ट्र्ा के जििक।

(ii) केन्द्रीय सरकार, राज्य सरकार, स्ट्र्ानीय प्राजधकरण या दकसी स्ट्र्ापन (जिसके अंतगात पजललक सेक्टर उपक्रम, कानूनी जनकाय, बैंक, कंपजनयां, संस्ट्र्ाए,ं सोसायटीयां और न्द्यास भी आत े ह)ैं के जलजपक या कोई अजधकारी। 7957 GI/2026 (1)2 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC. 3(i)]

(iii) ऐसा कोई व्यजि, जिसे राज्य सरकार या संघ राज्यिेत्र प्रिासन, प्रगणक के रूप में कतव्या ों का जनष्पािन करन े के जलए उपयुि समझे।” [फा. सं. 9/79/2010- सी.डी. NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 16th October, 2026 G.S.R. 896(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 18 of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Census Rules, 1990, namely:-

1. Short title and commencement. - (1) These rules may be called the Census (Amendment) Rules, 2026.

(2) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Census Rules, 1990, in rule 3, in the Table, against serial number 5, for the entries under column 2, the following entries shall be substituted, namely :- “(i) Teachers of any educational institution of the Government, local authority, aided or unaided private bodies, societies or trusts.

(ii) Clerks or any official of the Central Government, State Government, local authority or establishment (including public sector undertakings, statutory bodies, banks, companies, institutions, societies and trusts).

(iii) Any person, as the State Government or the Union territory Administration may consider suitable, to perform the duties as an Enumerator.”. [F. No: 9/79/2010- CD (Cen) P-1] MRITUNJAY KUMAR NARAYAN, Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner

section (ii) vide notification number S.O. 967(E) dated the 31st December, 1990 and subsequently amended vide notification numbers G.S.R. 589(E) dated the 19th July, 1994, G.S.R. 458(E) dated the 3rd July, 2009, G.S.R. 576(E) dated the 19th June, 2018 and G.S.R. 194(E) dated the 11th March, 2022.
