Delhi, the 29th January, 2025
F. No. 1/51/2024-Judl./Suptlaw/100-105.— In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to Article 309
of the Constitution read with Government of India, Ministry of Home Affair’s Notification No.F.1/2/70/DH(S), dated
the 29th May, 1970 as amended by Notification No.F.1/2/70-DH(S), dated the 25th July, 1970 and all other powers[PART IV DELHI GAZETTE : EXTRAORDINARY 3
enabling him in this behalf, the Lieutenant Governor of National Capital Territory of Delhi in consultation with the
High Court of Delhi, hereby makes the following rules to further amend the Delhi Judicial Service Rules, 1970:-
1. Short title and commencement - (1) These rules may be called the Delhi Judicial Service
(Amendment) Rules, 2025.
(2) They shall be deemed to have come into force on the 01st July,
2024.
2. Amendment to Rule 3(d) of DJS Rules, 1970 - In the Delhi Judicial Service Rules 1970, in place of existing
Rule 3(d), the following Rule 3(d) shall be substituted,
namely:-
Rule 3(d) - A person appointed to the Service shall be designated as Civil Judge (Junior Division) or
Judicial Magistrate of the First Class or as Civil Judge (Junior Division)-cum-Judicial
Magistrate of the First Class in accordance with the duties being discharged by him for the
time being.
3. Amendment to schedule appended to DJS In the Delhi Judicial Service Rules 1970, in place of existing
Rules, 1970 - Schedule (under rule 4), the following Schedule (under
rule 4) shall be substituted, namely:-

1 Civil Judges (Senior Division) (25% of cadre strength)
This will include -
(i) Senior Civil Judge-cum-Rent Controllers 11
(ii) Additional Senior Civil Judges-cum-Judges Small Cause Courts-cum- 11
Guardian Judges
(iii) Chief Judicial Magistrates 12
(iv) Additional Chief Judicial Magistrates 15
(v) Additional Rent Controllers 11
(vi) Administrative Civil Judges 11
(vii) or any other officer who may be designated as Civil Judge (Senior 50
Division)
