17th February, 2014, are hereby published for general information :—

Amendment to the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha
(Fourteenth Edition)
In pursuance of sub-rule (3) of rule 331 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha
(Fourteenth Edition), the following amendments approved by Lok Sabha to the said Rules are hereby published:-
Rule 160
1. In rule 160, for the words “Petitions may be presented or submitted to the House with the consent of the
Speaker on –’’
the words “Petitions may be presented by a member to the House with the consent of the Speaker on –’’
shall be substituted.
Rule 164
2. In rule 164 (1) for the words “Every petition shall, if presented by a member be countersigned by him.”¹Hkkx Iµ[k.M 1º Hkkjr dk jkti=k % vlk/kj.k 3
the words “Every petition shall be countersigned by a member presenting it.” shall be substituted.
Rule 167
3. In rule 167, for the words “A petition may be presented by a Member or be forwarded to the Secretary-
General, who shall report it to the House. The report shall be made in the form set out in the Second
Schedule. No debate shall be permitted on the presentation, or the making of such report”
the words “A petition may be presented by a Member to the House. No debate shall be permitted on

4. In rule 169, for the words “Every petition shall, after presentation by a member or report by the

Amendment to Directions by the Speaker Lok Sabha
(Seventh Edition)
In pursuance of rule 389 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha (Fourteenth
Edition), the Speaker has made the following amendments to Directions:
1. Direction 38 (3), -
(i) for the words “by the Secretary-General or the member, as the case may be”
the words “by the Member” shall be substituted.
(ii) In the first Proviso,-
for the words “It shall be presented or reported to the House, as the case may be, as soon as
possible after its receipt”
the words “it shall be presented to the House as soon as possible after its receipt” shall be
substituted.
2. Direction 115 B(1), -
for the words “Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit,
Tamil, Telugu or Urdu”
the words “Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali,
