Key Changes

  • The definition of entry 22A under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is updated to include 'content' and 'publishers'. The original entry read: “22A. Films and Audio-Visual programmes made available by online content providers.” The updated entry now reads: “22A. Films and Audio-Visual programmes/content made available by online content providers/publishers.”
  • A new entry, 22C, is inserted after entry 22B, which states: “22C. Online advertisements.”
  • These rules came into force immediately on July 28, 2023.

Online Content Providers/Publishers

  • This inclusion might lead to increased scrutiny and regulation of their content.

Advertisers

  • This could lead to changes in advertising practices and increased compliance costs.
