As per the Office Order No. HH-18/2/2025-Personnel, dated 17.12.2025, issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, Shri Manish Shiva Zole, Deputy Director (PIB), has been appointed as Chief of Media & Communications (CMC) for MeitY. This appointment follows Ministry of Information and Broadcasting D.O. No. M-20011/10/2025- Press dated 12.11.2025. The CMC will serve as the Single Point of Contact for all media-related matters and information dissemination through various media platforms and will report directly to Secretary (MeitY). All Divisions of MeitY are required to route their media plans through the CMC. Expenditure related to the CMC's official tours will be covered by MeitY as per entitlement. The roles and responsibilities of the CMC include conceptualizing, planning and releasing funds for paid and unpaid campaigns, coordinating media plans, and maintaining a panel of agencies for the production of creative content. The CMC will also coordinate with the CBC for media planning and ensure allocation of funds.
Additional responsibilities include advising on communication campaigns, drafting press releases and FAQs, organizing press conferences and media interactions, media liaison, publishing op-eds, fact-checking, preparing media plans for events, conducting press tours, monitoring media coverage, and inter-agency coordination. The CMC will also supervise staff, manage correspondence, maintain press databases, coordinate budget activities, and work with a team of officials from the client Ministry. The CMC will be provided an office in the client Ministry, and all files related to IEC and "Advertisement & Publicity" shall be routed through him. The CMC will also coordinate with the Ministry to place 40% of Advertisement & Publicity funds with the Ministry of I&B as per the DoE OM No. 7/53/2019-BA dated 30.04.2025.
