Appointment of Chief of Media & Communications

On December 17, 2025, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) issued an office order, No. HH-18/2/2025-Personnel, appointing Shri Manish Shiva Zole, Deputy Director (PIB), as the Chief of Media & Communications (CMC). This appointment is in line with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's D.O. No. M-20011/10/2025- Press, dated November 12, 2025. The CMC will serve as the Single Point of Contact for media engagements and information dissemination across various platforms. The CMC will report directly to the Secretary (MeitY) and coordinate with AS/JS/GC on Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) matters. Divisions of MeitY must route their media plans through the CMC. TA/DA and working arrangements for the CMC will be handled by MeitY per entitlements. The attached SOP outlines the roles and duties of the CMC, including conceptualizing and planning campaigns, coordinating media plans with CBC, managing creatives through CBC, advising on campaign strategy, drafting press releases, organizing press conferences, maintaining media liaison, fact-checking, preparing media plans for events, conducting press tours, monitoring media coverage, and coordinating inter-agency communication efforts. The CMC also has administrative, logistical, budgeting, and team management responsibilities. The CMC coordinates with the Ministry for budget planning, places 40% of 'Advertisement & Publicity' funds with the Ministry of I&B as per DoE OM No. 7/53/2019-BA dated 30.04.2025, and manages a team of officials from the client Ministry, ensuring all relevant files are routed through them.
