Policy Overview and Extension The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, has approved the extension of the Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana (ABVKY). Originally scheduled to conclude, the scheme’s duration has been extended from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027.

Eligibility Criteria To qualify for benefits under the ABVKY, insured persons must meet the following requirements:

• Employment Duration: Must have been in insurable employment for a minimum of 12 months immediately preceding unemployment.
• Contributions: Must have contributed for at least 78 days in one completed contribution period within the 12 months prior to unemployment.
• Disqualification Factors: Benefits are not applicable if unemployment is a result of misconduct, lockouts, superannuation, or a conviction for false statements under the ESI Act, 1948.

Operational Implementation The government has implemented several measures to expedite claim settlements, including:

• Online submission and processing of claims.
• Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.
• Regular monitoring of claim settlements to ensure timely disbursal.
