The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) successfully conducted a high-altitude rescue and road restoration operation under Project Sampark at Chatergala Pass in J&K (Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir). The Pass is situated at 10,500 ft. in the Bhaderwah-Chatergala axis, which was disrupted due to heavy snowfall on January 23, 2026.
The 118 Road Construction Company (RCC) of 35 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) commenced snow-clearance operation on January 24, 2026 and continued for nearly 40 hours, clearing approximately 38 km of road covered under 5 to 6 feet of snow. By the evening of January 25, 2026, the route was opened, enabling the safe evacuation of 20 stranded civilians and 40 troops of 4 Rashtriya Rifles along with weapons and stores.
The rescue mission was completed by 02:30 hrs on January 26, 2026, with zero casualties. The operation was executed in close coordination with the Indian Army.

Border Roads Organisation (BRO) successfully carried out a high-altitude rescue and road restoration
operation under Project Sampark at Chatergala Pass situated at an altitude of 10,500 ft. in the Bhaderwah–
Chatergala axis in Jammu region of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, disrupted due to heavy snow
fall on January 23, 2026.
