Ministry of Mines Building on Special Campaign 5.0 Achievements, Ministry of Mines Strengthens e-Waste Management under Special Campaign 6.0

2026. Building upon the achievements of Special Campaign 5.0, this year, the Ministry is preparing for Special Campaign 6.0, with focus area as“Effective Collection, Segregation and Disposal of e-Waste” in keeping with the Government’s commitment to swachhata, sustainability and responsible resource management.
Building on the success of special campaign 5.0 and continued efforts thereafter from November 2025 to August 2026, the Ministry and its field organizations have recorded significant progress towards improving administrative efficiency and ensuring optimum utilisation of government resources.
During this period, a total of 1,772 public grievances were addressed and 3,751 physical files were weeded out, contributing to improved record management and streamlined administrative processes. The campaign also resulted in the freeing of more than 1.7 lakh sq. ft. of office space, enabling more effective utilisation of government premises. In addition, 116 campaigns were undertaken across the Ministry and its organisations, resulting in revenue generation of approximately Rs. 19.33 crore through scrap disposal.
As part of Special Campaign 6.0, the Preparatory Phase from 15th to 30th September 2026 will focus on identifying and setting targets for the disposal of pending references from MPs, the PMO and State Governments, Public grievances and appeals, Parliamentary assurances, as well as the review and management of records.
The Implementation Phase from 2nd to 31st October 2026 will focus on achieving the identified targets through coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Mines, its attached and subordinate offices, CPSEs and autonomous bodies.
In line with this year’s theme, the Ministry has nominated JNARDDC, an autonomous body under the Ministry, which in collaboration with MRAI, will facilitate the setting up of e-Waste collection booths at GPOA and various offices of the Ministry of Mines, as well as at government offices across different States and locations, for the collection of e-Waste. The initiative is aimed at facilitating the recycling and recovery of critical minerals from e-Waste, which is line with the objectives of the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM).
Through Special Campaign 6.0, the Ministry of Mines will continue to strengthen its efforts towards swachhata, sustainability, efficient governance and responsible resource management, while contributing to the broader national objective of sustainable development The campaign will reinforce the Ministry’s endeavour to institutionalise efficient practices in government offices and promote environmentally responsible management of resources, including e-Waste.*** Prajith Kumar (Release ID: 2310915) Visitor Counter : 202
