The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Proclaimed Offender, Paras Ram alias Raju
Sharma, who had been absconding for about 16 years in connection with a double murder case.
CBI had registered the case on 06.04.2011 against six accused persons, including Paras Ram, pursuant to
directions of the Rajasthan High Court, Jaipur Bench. It was alleged that on 29.07.2010, the accused
persons criminally trespassed into the house of a person at Kama, Rajasthan, and opened indiscriminate
fire using country-made firearms. As a result of the firing, two persons, including a father and son who
were family members of the then Additional Sessions Judge, lost their lives on the spot, while two others
sustained grievous injuries.
During the course of investigation, accused Paras Ram had been absconding since the registration of the
case. He was declared a Proclaimed Offender by the Court of ACJM, SPE Cases, Jaipur, and a reward of
₹5 lakh was announced for information leading to his arrest. Trial proceedings against him had been kept
in abeyance.
Through collection and analysis of technical inputs and field intelligence, CBI developed credible
information regarding the whereabouts of the accused. It was revealed that Paras Ram had been living
under a changed identity as “Raju Sharma”.
Acting on the developed intelligence, CBI successfully arrested the accused on 05.03.2026 in New Delhi
in execution of the standing warrant of arrest issued by the competent court. The arrested accused was
produced before the competent court and has been granted three days of police custody. Further
investigation in the case is ongoing.
