Ministry of Defence Chief of Defence Staff Extends Greetings on 93rd Indian Air Force Day
Posted On: 08 OCT 2025 5:20PM by PIB Delhi rd On the occasion of the 93 anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan extended his warm greetings to all Air Force personnel, veterans, civilians and their families.
He lauded IAF for repeatedly demonstrating how air power can shape strategic outcomes, most notably during Operation Sindoor, where the Force reaffirmed its ability to strike deep inside enemy territory with precision.
CDS commended the IAF’s intricate network of sensors and radars for effectively tracking & engaging enemy aircraft, aerial weapons and drones, adding that Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) units of the IAF supported by Indian Army Air Defence units, functioned seamlessly under the Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS), producing outstanding results during Operation Sindoor. He further commended the IAF’s continuous efforts towards modernisation through the induction of indigenous platforms, adoption of advanced weapon systems and evolution of doctrines to operate across the full aerospace continuum.
Highlighting the evolving nature of warfare, General Anil Chauhan stated “the character of war is undergoing a profound change, with future conflicts expected to be technology-driven, rapid, and contested across multiple domains. Under these conditions, air power shall be the dominant factor in modern combat.” CDS praised the IAF for its distinguished legacy of courage, professionalism, and service to the nation both in combat and in humanitarian missions.
CDS also underscored the IAF’s vital role as a dependable first responder during humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) missions. “The IAF has consistently displayed its reach and responsiveness by rescuing civilians caught in conflict zones and delivering critical aid during natural disasters,” he stated. He added that, over the decades, the IAF has stood as a symbol of valour, safeguarding the nation’s skies and coming to the aid of citizens during natural calamities.
