Delhi, the 10th January, 2022
F. No. F.13/7/2012/HP-1/Estt./3057 to 3062.—In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-
section (2) of Section 147, read with section 5 (b) of the Delhi Police Act, 1978 and in supersession of Notification
No.F.13/7/2012/HP-1/Estt./3586-3591 dated 11.09.2021, the Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory of
Delhi, is pleased to make the following Rules further to amend the Delhi Police (General Conditions of Services) Rules
1980, namely:
1. Short title and (1) These Rules shall be called the Delhi Police (General Conditions of
Commencement Services) (Amendment) Rules, 2021.
(2) They shall come into force with effect from the date of their publication in
the Delhi Gazette.
2. Amendment of Rule-7 In the Delhi Police (General Conditions of Services) (Amendment) Rules,
2019 for existing Rule-7, the following shall be inserted/substituted
namely:
7:- “Rewards (i) The Commissioner of Police, Special Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner of Police,
Additional Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police may sanction rewards to the Public or Police, upto
the limits noted against each here under:[PART IV DELHI GAZETTE : EXTRAORDINARY 3
a. Commissioner of Police Commendation Cash reward upto Rs. 50,000/- to an individual in each case, for
Roll actions of outstanding merit. For a reward in excess of Rs.
50,000/-, the Lt. Governor, Delhi shall be the sanctioning
authority on the recommendation of Commissioner of Police,
Delhi.
b. Special Commissioner of Commendation Cash reward upto Rs. 20,000/- in each case, for action of such
Police Certificate special merit as to deserve a higher form of recognition than a
Joint Commissioner of Police is empowered to give.
c. Joint Commissioner of Commendation Cash reward upto Rs. 10,000/- in each case, for action of such
Police Certificate special merit as to deserve a higher form of recognition than an
Additional Commissioner of Police is empowered to give.
d. Additional Commendation Cash reward upto Rs. 4,000/- in each case, for action of such
Commissioner of Police Certificate special merit as to deserve a higher form of recognition than a
Deputy Commissioner of Police is empowered to give.
e. Deputy Commissioner of Commendation Cash reward upto Rs. 2,000/- in each case in recognition of
Police. Card Class-I & II specific instances of good work or assistance to Police in
connection with the prevention or detection of Crime, the
preservation of law and order, contribution towards addressing
violence against women & women safety or in other
administrative matters.
(ii) Reward to public shall be sanctioned only for assistance or information of special merit rendered to police
in detection of crime or apprehension of criminals, whereas the police officers of subordinate ranks and other
employees of the Delhi Police may be sanctioned commendation certificate/cash reward for exhibiting special merit in
any branch of police activity or for exceptionally good work in connection with the administration of law, maintenance
of peace, safety and good order or the conduct displaying exceptional address, acuteness, industry, fidelity or courage.
