The Ministry of Tribal Affairs announced updates on digital infrastructure in tribal-dominated areas on December 4, 2023. To strengthen digital education, 262 smart classrooms have been provided in EMRSs. NESTS provides free coaching to science stream students through the ENABLE Program online and offline coaching through three Centres of Excellence for JEE/NEET preparation. The number of functional EMRSs in the North Eastern Region is as follows: Arunachal Pradesh (5), Assam (6), Manipur (5), Meghalaya (2), Mizoram (11), Nagaland (3), Sikkim (4), and Tripura (12), totaling 48. Each of the four districts Gyalshing, Mangam, Namchi and Pakyong in Sikkim have one Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) sanctioned and functional.
