On 05 DEC 2025, the Government launched the Notary Portal to provide online services related to the Notaries Act, 1952 and the Notaries Rules, 1956. It aims to offer an online interface between Notaries and the Government for services such as submission of applications for appointment as Notaries, verification of eligibility, issuance of digitally signed Certificate of Practice, renewal of Certificate, change of practice area, and submission of annual returns. The Notary Portal is faceless, paperless, transparent and efficient. Currently, only the module for verifying documents and eligibility for issuing digitally signed Certificates of Practice to newly appointed Notaries is active. Before the portal, Certificates of Practice were physically issued. As of 30.11.2025, over 35,000 digitally signed Certificates of Practice have been issued to newly appointed Notaries across various States and Union Territories. interface between theNotaries and the Government for various services like submission of applicationsfor
