Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

**Summary of RudraM-II Air-to-Surface Missile Flight Tests** **Event Overview** On June 2, 2026, the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully conducted flight tests of the RudraM-II air-to-surface missile from an airborne platform. The tests, overseen by the Ministry of Defence, were carried out under extreme release conditions to validate the missile’s critical trajectory and subsystem capabilities. **Technical Performance** According to flight data captured by the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, the missiles met all test objectives and reached predefined targets with pinpoint accuracy. The successful flight established the operational readiness of the weapon system's various subsystems under challenging conditions. **Development and Collaboration** The RudraM-II is an indigenous weapon system developed by the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, serving as the nodal DRDO laboratory. Collaborative partners included: * **DRDO Laboratories:** Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), and ITR. * **Production and Quality Partners:** Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness, Missile System Quality Assurance Agency, and various Development cum Production Partners (DcPPs). **Official Recognition** Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh commended the joint efforts of the DRDO, IAF, and industry partners, stating that the success reflects the growing maturity of indigenous defense technologies and contributes to "Aatmanirbharta" (self-reliance) in advanced weapon systems.
