In the Union Budget of 2018-19, the Government of India announced the establishment of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) in every block with more than 50% ST population and at least 20,000 tribal persons (as per Census 2011), to provide quality education to tribal children in their environment. The EMRSs sanctioned in Bihar are located in Jhajha (Jamui district), Ramnagar (West Champaran district), and Adhaura (Kaimur district). Blocks in Purnia, Banka, and Munger districts do not meet the criteria for sanctioning an EMRS. None of the blocks of Bhagalpur district of Bihar meet this twin criteria. The requirement of EMRSs is reviewed periodically. The entry date of the policy is 04 DEC 2023 5:43PM by PIB Delhi.

district of Bihar meet this twin criteria.
(c) The details of EMRSs sanctioned in Bihar are as under:
1. Jhajha, Jamui district
2. Ramnagar, West Champaran district
3. Adhaura, Kaimur district
None of the blocks in the districts of Purnia, Banka, and Munger fulfil the twin criteria required for
sanctioning an EMRS.
The requirement of EMRSs is reviewed from time to time.
