Subject: Extension in date for mandating IS 16333 (Part 3): 2016 – Indian Language Support
for Mobile Phones
S.O. 2159(E).—Whereas Government of India, MeitY has issued the Order for mandating Indian
Language Support for Mobile Phones as per IS 16333 (Part 3), and whereas certain issues have arisen with
regard to compliance to the Order, and whereas to address these issues and to facilitate the industry for smooth
implementation of the Order, the following notification is issued in continuation of the Order.
2. Extension in date:
The date of coming into effect of the aforesaid Order stands extended to 1st October, 2017.
Note: The Principal Order was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary vide S.O number 2357(E),
dated 3rd October, 2012 and subsequently amended vide S.O. 2034(E) dated 5th July, 2013, S.O 3022 (E) dated
