Notice is hereby given that an election by postal voting is to be held for electing one Professor to the Senate of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, as per clause (c) of sub-section (3) of Section 18 of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, Act, 1987 ( Tamil Nadu Act 37 of 1987) by the Teachers of all Affi liated Nursing Colleges from among themselves to fi ll up the existing vacancy. The term of membership in the regular vacancy will be for a period of three years from the date of election or up to the date on which he/she ceases to hold the post of Professor of an Affi liated Nursing College, whichever is earlier. (2) Forms of Nomination papers may be obtained from the offi ce of the undersigned from 02-05-2018 to 14-05-2018 between 11.00 a.m and 3.00 p.m. (on all working days). (3) Nomination papers duly fi lled in shall be submitted in an envelope addressed to the Registrar / Returning Offi cer and superscribed “Nomination for election to the Senate Under Section 18 (3) (c)” as indicated below, by Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due so as to be received by the Registrar / Returning Offi cer not later than 4.00 p.m. on 14-05-2018 or to be delivered to the Returning Offi cer during offi ce hours in person or by his/her proposer or by messenger under acknowledgement within the date and hour mentioned above. (5) Nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at 4.15 p.m. on 14-05-2018 (6) List of valid nominations will be published at 5.45 p.m. on 14-05-2018 in the University premises. (7) Notice of withdrawal of candidates may be made as per the General Statutes of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University on or before 3.00 p.m. on 21-05-2018 (Monday). (8) List of fi nal valid nominations will be published in the University premises at 5.30 p.m. on 21-05-2018. A copy of fi nal valid nomination and the fi nal list of voters will be despatched to the candidates. (9) A numbered declaration paper, a ballot paper with the name of the candidates bearing on it, the Returning Offi cer’s initials, a cover for sending Ballot Paper and an envelope containing the address of the Returning Offi cer will be sent to the address entered against the name of the voter in the fi nal electoral roll through the Heads of the Institutions / College in which he/she is working, on 31-05-2018 (Thursday). No ballot paper will be issued in the offi ce to the voters on the day of election. The cover containing the ballot paper and the declaration form in the envelope be sent by Registered Post, so as to reach the Registrar /Returning Offi cer not later than 4.00 p.m. on 18-06-2018 (Monday) the day fi xed for poll. (10) The Voter may, either in person or by an agent, deposit the envelope addresses to the Returning Offi cer in the ballot box provided for the purpose at the offi ce of the Returning Offi cer till 4.00 P.M. on 18-06-2018 (Monday). (11) Scrutiny and counting of votes and declaration of results will be from 10.30 a.m. on 20-06-2018 (Wednesday) till the process is over. Note: 1. The intimation of valid nominations would be sent to the candidates with a copy of the notifi cation of the programme for the election containing last date of withdrawal and date of despatching the ballot paper to the Returning Offi cer by post, etc. 2. If the number of candidates, who are validly nominated and who have not withdrawn their candidates in the manner prescribed and within the time specifi ed, does not exceed or is less than the number of vacancies to be fi lled, such candidate shall be declared to be duly elected.
