**Summary:**
On August 8, 2025, the Ministry of Steel announced a revision to the advance registration period for the Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS) 2.0 portal, applicable to the import of all steel products, with exceptions for specific HS codes under heading 7204 of ITCHS, 2022.
The revised policy stipulates the following advance registration periods:
* **Nepal & Bhutan:** Not earlier than 60 days and not later than 2 days before the expected arrival date.
* **UAE & Oman:** Not earlier than 60 days and not later than 4 days before the expected arrival date.
* **Singapore, Malaysia & Indonesia:** Not earlier than 60 days and not later than 5 days before the expected arrival date.

In consideration of various representations, the Government of India has revised the advance registration
period to apply for registration on the Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS) 2.0 portal for import of all
steel products, except items covered under specific HS codes of heading 7204 of ITC(HS), 2022, as under:

notice dated 13.06.2025.The revised registration period aims to further promote ease of doing business and
streamline the import process for steel products. It has been made effective from 05.08.2025.
