Ministry of Defence GSL Celebrates 80th Independence Day, Reaffirms Commitment to Viksit Bharat@2047 प्रव तथ: 15 AUG 2026 8:37PM by PIB Mumbai Goa, August 15: Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a premier Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour, marking 150 years of “Vande Mataram” and the national theme “Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat@2047.” The celebrations began with the rendition of Vande Mataram, followed by the unfurling of the National Flag by Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, Chairman and Managing Director, GSL, and a ceremonial Guard of Honour.Addressing employees, students and family members, Shri Upadhyay highlighted the importance of innovation, technological excellence and youth participation in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. He said GSL’s contribution goes beyond shipbuilding, strengthening India’s maritime security and advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The CMD congratulated Team GSL on the company’s recent elevation to Schedule ‘A’ CPSE status, describing it as a reflection of the workforce’s dedication and a significant milestone in GSL’s growth journey. He stressed the need to focus on research and development, indigenisation, intellectual property creation, digital transformation and productivity enhancement.
