hereby rescinds the Merchant Shipping (Distressed Seamen) Rules, 1960 published in the Gazette of India,

G.S.R. 871(E).—The following draft of notification to rescind the Lifeboatmen’s (Qualification and
Certificates) Rules, 1963, which the Central Government proposes to issue, in exercise of the powers
conferred by clause (h) of sub-section (2) of section 288 and section 344 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958
(44 of 1958) read with section 21 of the General Clauses Act, 1897(X of 1897), is hereby published as
required by sub-section (1) of section 344 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 (44 of 1958), for the
information of all persons likely to be affected thereby; and notice is hereby given that the said draft
notification shall be taken into consideration after the expiry of a period of thirty days from the date on which
the copies of the Official Gazette in which this notification is published are made available to the public;
Objections or suggestions, if any, may be addressed to the Additional Secretary (Shipping Wing),
Ministry of Shipping, Transport Bhawan, New Delhi-110002;
The objections and suggestions, which may be received from any person with respect to the said draft
notification before the expiry of the period specified above, shall be considered by the Central Government.
