NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 1st March, 2016
G.S.R.272(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 22 of the Passports Act, 1967 (15
of 1967), the Central Government, being of the opinion that it is necessary and expedient in the public
interest so to do hereby exempts the passport holders whose passport got damaged or lost due to flood in
the State of Tamil Nadu in November, 2015 from payment of passport fees specified under section 5 of
the said Act, read with rule 8 of the Passports Rules, 1980 subject to the following conditions, namely :-
(a) such exemption in payment of passport fees shall be applicable only to such passport
holders of Tamil Nadu whose passports are damaged or lost in the flood;
(b) duplicate passports shall be issued to all applicants desirous of availing such exemption
with the same particulars as in their previous passports and for the remaining period of
validity;
(c) such exemption shall remain in force for a period of three months with effect from
8th December, 2015.
