NOTIFICATION
Delhi, the 14th June, 2021
No. F.19(17)/Sectt/Tpt/2020/49052.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section115 read with clause
(41) of section 2 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Act No.59 of 1988), the Lieutenant Governor of National Capital
Territory of Delhi on being satisfied that it is necessary in the interest of public safety and convenience of general
public of Delhi to regulate the vehicular movement on main Chandni Chowk road from Red Fort to Fatehpuri Mosque
and surrounding areas, does hereby prohibit the plying of Motor Vehicles in the following manner namely:[PART IV DELHI GAZETTE : EXTRAORDINARY 3
Restriction on main Chandni Chowk Road :
i) No Motor Vehicle shall be allowed to ply on the main Chandni Chowk Road from Red Fort to Fatehpuri
Mosque from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on all days.
ii) Restrictions on North Side of the main Chandni Chowk Road - No Motor Vehicle shall be allowed on all
roads leading up to main Chandni Chowk Road from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. These restrictions however, shall not
apply to the following roads :
H.C. Sen Marg upto Jubli Cinema Cut (Opposite Gandhi Maidan Parking);
Rai Kedarnath Marg towards main Chandni Chowk Road upto T-Point Rai Kedar nath Marg (Town Hall
entry road);
Kachha Bagh Road including Chandni Chowk Metro Station and Ramjas Sr. Secondary School No.3, up
to main Chandni Chowk Road;
Shanti Desai Marg towards main Chandni Chowk Road upto T-Point Shanti Desai Marg (Town Hall exit
road) and;
Road leading to Bagh Diwar Park upto main Chandni Chowk Road (Behind Dangal Maidan Parking).
iii) Restrictions on South Side of the main Chandni Chowk Road-No Motor Vehicle shall be allowed on all roads
leading up to main Chandni Chowk Road from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. However, these restrictions shall not apply
to the following roads :
Netaji Subhash Marg ;
Jama Masjid Road up to Chawri Bazar Road crossing;
Chawri Bazar Road up to Hauz Qazi Chowk;
Lal Kuan Road upto T-Point Katra Bariyan Road;
Katra Bariyan Road up to Fatehpuri Mosque T-Point.
The civic agencies and road maintaining / owning agencies shall erect corresponding informatory signboards
indicating the restrictions in the area for the information and convenience of all concerned.
The above said prohibition / restrictions shall not be applicable for the purposes of Emergency (i.e. Fire
Tenders, Ambulances, Hearse Van and Vehicle carrying Pregnant Women or Patients requiring Motorized Transport),
Enforcement (Vehicles of North DMC & Delhi Police) and Maintenance (i.e. Vehicles deployed by North DMC,
Delhi Police, BSES Yamuna Power Ltd., Public Works Department, CPWD, Delhi Jal Board, Indraprastha Gas Ltd. &
Bank Currency Vans accompanied with Security Vans).
The Lieutenant Governor of National Capital Territory of Delhi hereby, also authorizes the Deputy
Commissioner of Police (Traffic) concerned to exercise the powers under Section 115 of the said Act for imposing
any further prohibition or restriction for emergent purposes for the area covered by this notification, provided that
such restriction is to remain in force for not more than one month.
The notification comes into effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
