In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 3 and 5 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 10 of 1955, the Central Government hereby directs that National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, established vide Government of India in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers
This order, dated February 15, 2016, issued by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Department of Pharmaceuticals, grants the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) additional powers under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. Specifically, the NPPA will now also exercise the functions of the Central Government in respect of subparagraph 1 of paragraph 22 of the Drugs Prices Control Order, 2013. This is in addition to the functions already specified in Order S.O. 1394(E), dated May 30, 2013. The NPPA was originally established via Resolution No. 33797/PII dated August 29, 1997. S. O. 528(E).— In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 3 and 5 of the Essential
Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955), the Central Government hereby directs that National Pharmaceutical
Pricing Authority, established vide Government of India in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers
Resolution No. 33/7/97-PI-I dated the 29th August, 1997, published in Part 1, Section (1) of the Gazette of
India, Extraordinary, shall also exercise the functions of the Central Government in respect of
sub-paragraph (1) of paragraph 22 of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 in addition to the functions
specified in the Order of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers number
S.O. 1394 (E), dated the 30th May, 2013.
