In exercise of the powers conferred by sub section 1 of section 29 of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005 42 of 2005 the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary and expedient to do so hereby makes the following further amendments to Schedule II of the said Act, namely
This notification, S.O. 2309(E), issued by the Ministry of Rural Development on July 13, 2020, amends Schedule II of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005. The amendment, enacted under the authority of subsection 1 of section 29 of the Act, modifies paragraph 27 of Schedule II. The revised paragraph 27 stipulates that if an individual employed under the MGNREGA scheme dies or becomes permanently disabled due to an accident arising out of and in the course of their employment, they or their legal heirs will receive an ex-gratia payment. This payment will be as per entitlement under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana or as may be notified by the Central Government. The notification was issued under F. No. L11011/102018/REI and signed by Rohit Kumar, Joint Secretary. This amendment follows previous amendments to Schedule II, specifically notification number S.O. 324(E) dated March 6, 2007, and notification number S.O. 19(E) dated January 3, 2014.

2. महात्मा गांधी राष्ट्रीय ग्रामीण रोिगार गारंटी अजधजनयम, 2005 की अनुसूची 2 म,ें परै ा सख्ं या 27 के स्ट्थान पर
जनम्नजलजखत पैरा रखा िाएगा, अथाात:-
“27. यदि इस स्ट् कीम के अधीन दकसी जनयोजित यजत की ऐसे जनयोिन के कारण या ऐस े जनयोिन के िारान
कोई िर्ु ाटना होने से उसकी मृत् यु हो िाती ह ै या िह स्ट् थायी प प से जिल ांग हो िातातिाती ह ै तो, यथाजस्ट् थजत, उसे या
उसके कानूनी उत् तराजधकािरयों को प्रधान मत्रंी सरुक्षा बीमा योिना के अंतगात पात्रता या केन्द द्रीय सरकार द्वारा िारी
अजधसूचना के अनुसार अनग्रुह अनुिान का भुगतान कायाा यन अजभकरण द्वारा दकया िाएगा ”

National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (42 of 2005), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is
necessary and expedient to do so, hereby makes the following further amendments to Schedule II of the said Act,
namely:-
2. In the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005, in SCHEDULE II, in paragraph 27,
the following paragraph shall be substituted, namely: -
“27. If a person employed under the Scheme meets with death or becomes permanently disabled by accident
arising out of and in the course of employment, he or his legal heirs, as the case may be, shall be paid by the
implementing agency an ex-gratia as per entitlement under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana or as
may be notified by the Central Government. ”
