This notification, S.O. 1702(E), issued by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, revises the criteria for classifying micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Effective July 1, 2020, a micro enterprise is defined as one with investment in Plant and Machinery or Equipment not exceeding one crore rupees and turnover not exceeding five crore rupees. A small enterprise is defined as one with investment in Plant and Machinery or Equipment not exceeding ten crore rupees and turnover not exceeding fifty crore rupees. A medium enterprise is defined as one with investment in Plant and Machinery or Equipment not exceeding fifty crore rupees and turnover not exceeding two hundred and fifty crore rupees. This notification supersedes the previous notification S.O. 1642(E) issued on September 29, 2006, with effect from 30th September 2006, except for actions taken or omitted before this supersession. The notification is issued in exercise of the powers conferred by subsection 1 read with subsection 9 of section 7 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006). का.आ. 1702(अ).—‘सूक्ष्म, लघु और मध्यम उद्यम जिकास अजधजनयम, 2006 (2006 का 27) की धारा 7 की
उप-धारा (9) के साथ पठित उप-धारा (1) द्वारा प्रित्त िजियों का प्रयोग करते हुए तथा भारत के रािपत्र, असाधारण,
भाग-II, खंड 3, उप-खंड (ii) में दिनांक 30 जसतंबर, 2006 के सां. आ. 1642 (ई) के तहत प्रकाजित भारत सरकार,
लघु उद्योग मंत्रालय की दिनांक 29 जसतंबर, 2006 की अजधसूचना के अजधक्रमण में तथा ऐसे अजधक्रमण से पूिव दकए
गए कायव अथिा जिलोजपत दकए िाने िाले कायों को छोड़कर, केंद्र सरकार एतिद्वारा सूक्ष्म, लघु और मध्यम उद्यमों के
जलए जनम् नजलजखत मानिडं ों को अजधसूजचत करती ह, नामत:—
i. सूक्ष्म उद्यम िह ह जिसमें संयत्रं और मिीनरी अथिा उपस्ट्कर म ें एक करोड़ रुपए स े अजधक का जनिेि नहीं
होता ह तथा उसका कारोबार पांच करोड़ रुपए से अजधक नहीं होता ह;
ii. लघु उद्यम िह ह जिसमें संयंत्र और मिीनरी अथिा उपस्ट्कर में िस करोड़ रुपए से अजधक का जनिेि नहीं
होता ह तथा उसका कारोबार पचास करोड़ रुपए से अजधक नहीं होता ह;
iii. मध्यम उद्यम िह ह जिसमें संयंत्र और मिीनरी अथिा उपस्ट्कर में पचास करोड़ रुपए से अजधक का जनिेि
नहीं होता ह तथा उसका कारोबार िो सौ पचास करोड़ रुपए से अजधक नहीं होता ह।

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 1st June, 2020
S.O. 1702(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) read with
sub-section (9) of section 7 of the ‘Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of
2006) and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Small Scale
Industries, dated the 29th September, 2006, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II,
Section3, Sub-section(ii), vide S.O. 1642(E), dated the 30th September 2006 except as respects things done
or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government, hereby notifies the following
criteria for classification of micro, small and medium enterprises, namely:—
(i) a micro enterprise, where the investment in Plant and Machinery or Equipment does not
exceed one crore rupees and turnover does not exceed five crore rupees;
(ii) a small enterprise, where the investment in Plant and Machinery or Equipment does not exceed
ten crore rupees and turnover does not exceed fifty crore rupees;
(iii) a medium enterprise, where the investment in Plant and Machinery or Equipment does not
exceed fifty crore rupees and turnover does not exceed two hundred and fifty crore rupees.
This notification shall come into effect from 01.07.2020.
