This notification, S.O. 6472(E), issued by the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) and published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Subsection ii, dated December 31, 2018, announces amendments to the Fourth Schedule of the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970 (48 of 1970).
Specifically, it adds Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute, Medicine and Surgery, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka to the list of recognized institutions. Graduates holding a Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) degree from this institute, awarded from April 2006 onwards, are now recognized under the Act.
The notification is issued under the authority granted by subsection 2 of section 16 of the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970, following consultation with the Central Council of Indian Medicine. S.O. 6472(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 16 of the Indian
Medicine Central Council Act, 1970 (48 of 1970), the Central Government, after consulting the Central
Council of Indian Medicine, hereby makes the following further amendments in the Fourth Schedule to the said
Act, namely:—
In the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970, in the Fourth Schedule, against serial number 3 after
the entry “Tribhuvan University”, the following shall be inserted namely:—
