G.S.R 446(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (4) of section 3A of the Information
Technology Act, 2000 (21 of 2000), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the
Second Schedule to the said Act, namely:―
1. Short title and Commencement:-
(1) These rules may be called the Electronic Signature or Electronic Authentication Technique and Procedure
Rules, 2016.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Information Technology Act, 2000, (21 of 2000), in the Second Schedule, under column number (3), for item
(g), the following item shall be substituted, namely:-
"(g) The manner in which the information is authenticated by means of digital signature shall comply with the
manner and standards specified in rules 3 to 12 of the Digital Signature (End entity) Rules, 2015 in so far as
they relate to the creation, storage, and verification of Digital Signature".
