**Summary:**
The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna PSU, has supplied critical-grade steel for two significant defense projects in July 2025, furthering the nation's indigenization efforts. SAIL provided the entire quantity of special DMR grade steel plates for INS Ajay, the eighth and final vessel in the Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASWSWC) series built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE). SAIL also supplied the total requirement of special grade plates for INS Nistar, India's first indigenously designed and built Diving Support Vessel (DSV), commissioned by Hindustan Shipyard Ltd. (HSL). INS Nistar will be crucial for submarine rescue, deep-sea diving, and patrolling operations.
