The 27th anniversary of India's victory in the 1999 Kargil War was commemorated
with solemnity and reverence at Colaba Military Station, Mumbai, on the occasion of
Kargil Vijay Diwas.
Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, PVSM, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-
Chief, Western Naval Command; Lt Gen D.S. Kushwah, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General
Officer Commanding, Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa Area; and Air Vice Marshal
Prashant Sharad Wadodkar, Air Officer Commanding, Maharashtra Area, along with
officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force, civil dignitaries and veterans, paid homage
to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.
The dignitaries laid wreaths at the Shaheed Smarak at Colaba Military Station in
honour of the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice during the Kargil War.The ceremony served as a tribute to the courage, valour and unwavering
commitment of the Armed Forces. The sacrifices of the Kargil heroes continue to
inspire generations of Indians and reaffirm the enduring ethos of selfless service,
duty and devotion to the nation.
The observance reflected the nation's deep gratitude towards the soldiers who
defended India's territorial integrity with exemplary bravery and made the ultimate
sacrifice in the line of duty.
