In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 14 of the Karnataka
educational institutions (prohibition of capitation fee) act, 1984 (Karnataka act 37 of 1984),
the government of Karnataka hereby makes the following rules, further to amend the
Karnataka selection of candidates for admission to government seats in professional
educational institutions rules, 2006.
Notice is hereby given for the information of all persons affected thereby and that
this draft will be considered after fifteen days from the date of its publication in the Official
Gazette. The State Government shall consider any objection or suggestion which the State
Government may receive from any person in relation to this draft notification before the
expiry of the period specified above. Objections or suggestions may be sent to the
Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Medical Education Department, Multi-Storey
Building, Dr. Ambedkar Veedhi, Bangalore 560 001.5
DRAFT RULES
1. Title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka Selection of
Candidates for Admission to Government seats in professional educational
institutions (Amendment) rules, 2025.
(2) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official
Gazette.
2. Amendment of rule 5:- In the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for admission to
Government seats in Professional Educational Institutions Rules, 2006, in rule 5, in
sub-rule (1), after clause (xv), the following new clauses shall be inserted, namely:-
“(xvi) who is an Overseas Citizen of India born on or before 4.03.2021 or being a OCI Card
Holder issued on or before 4.03.2021, shall not be entitled for any reservation that are
applicable to a citizen of India.
(xvii) Overseas Citizen of India born on or after 05.03.2021 or being a OCI Card Holder issued
on or after 05.03.2021 are eligible for admission only against any Non-Resident Indian seat
or any supernumerary seat.”

“(v) (a) who is an Overseas Citizen of India born on or before 4.03.2021 or being a OCI Card
Holder issued on or before 4.03.2021, shall not be entitled for any reservation that are
