NOTIFICATION
The draft of following rules further to amend the Karnataka Educational
Institutions (Recognition of Primary and Secondary Schools) Rules, 1999 which the
Government of Karnataka proposes to make in exercise of the powers conferred by
sections 36 to 39 read with sub-section (1) of section 145 of the Karnataka Education
Act, 1983 (Karnataka Act 01 of 1995) is hereby published as required by sub-section
(1) of section 145 of the said Act, for the information of all persons likely to be affected
thereby and notice is hereby given that the said draft will-be taken into consideration
after fifteen days from the date of its publication in the official Gazette.
Any objections or suggestions which may be received by the State Government
from any person with respect to the said draft before the expiry of the period specified
above will be considered by the State Government. The objections and suggestions
may be addressed to the Principal Secretary to Government, Department of School
Education and Literacy, M.S.Building, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Veedhi, Bengaluru-
560001.
DRAFT RULES
1. Title and Commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka
Educational Institutions (Recognition of Primary and Secondary Schools)
(Amendment) Rules, 2023.

(2) They shall come into force from the date of their final publication in the
official Gazette.
2. Insertion of new rule 8. In the Karnataka Educational Institutions
(Recognition of Primary and Secondary Schools) Rules, 1999, after rule 7, the
following shall be inserted, namely:-
“8. Miscellaneous. (1) Institutions furnishing false information or document
shall be liable for disciplinary action under the Act and the Code of Criminal
Procedure, 1973 [Act No.2 of 1974). Such institutions shall be de-
recognized and debarred from seeking No Objection Certificate for a period of
two years.
(2) If the Management of any institution submitted forged document in
relation to building safety, fire safety shall be liable for action as in accordance
with the National Building Code of India 2016 and the Indian Penal Code, 1860
[Act No.45 of 1860]. The official responsible for issue of such false certificates
shall also be liable accordingly."
