The state office Panaji of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under the Ministry of
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India celebrated the World Honey Bee Day
2026 on May 20, 2026, in Mardol, Goa.
Under the Honey Mission initiative of KVIC to educate rural communities and encourage self-
employment opportunities through beekeeping activities, the programme was organized with
the objective of creating awareness about the importance of honey bees, beekeeping, and
honey production.
Shri Yogesh Bhamare, Director, KVIC SO Panaji, interacted with the participants and explained
various activities undertaken under the Honey Mission programme. He asked questions related
to beekeeping and encouraged participants to actively involve themselves in honey production
activities for self-employment and income generation.
The programme was attended by several dignitaries, including, Shri Pramod Ambatkar, Assistant
Director II, KVIC SO Panaji; Shri Melvin D’Souza, Master Trainer for the Honey Mission; Smt.
Vaibhavi Mardolkar, Panch Member, Mardol Panchayat. A total of 68 participants attended the
