Will the Minister of HEAVY INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) whether local manufacturing of Electric Vehicle (EV) components is being prioritized under
the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE)Scheme;
(b) if so, the details of domestic Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that have
been provided support;
(c) whether the scheme has given a boost to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, if so, whether
Government has any plans or is considering the establishment of companies for manufacturing
EV components in Bihar?

REGARDING “LOCAL MANUFACTURING OF EV COMPONENTS”
(a): Yes, local manufacturing of electric vehicle (EV) components is being prioritized under
the PM E-DRIVE Scheme through the implementation of a Phased Manufacturing Programme
(PMP), which mandates domestic manufacturing of specified components in a phased manner.
(b): The scheme does not provide any incentives to manufacturers of EV components. The
PM E-DRIVE scheme supports buyers/ purchasers of EVs through reduction in upfront
purchase price. The OEMs pass on the incentives to EV buyers and claim the amount
subsequently from the Government.
(c): The focus on domestic manufacturing under PM E-DRIVE has provided a significant
boost to the objectives of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.
The EVs and their components are manufactured by private sector companies. Under
the Scheme, the Government does not have any plans to establish companies for manufacturing
EV components anywhere in the country, including Bihar.
