New Delhi, 23 April, 2026: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, while addressing the Annual Day
ceremony of Kirori Mal College, said that education must not be confined merely to securing
employment, but should serve as a powerful instrument for social responsibility, inclusivity, and character-
building. He called upon the youth to align their aspirations with the broader national vision and to ensure
their active participation in democracy. He emphasized that the true measure of progress becomes
meaningful only when opportunities and development reach the last person in society.
Highlighting India’s evolving education landscape, Shri Birla observed that the National Education Policy
2020 is ushering in a transformative era by promoting critical thinking and academic flexibility. He stated
that while knowledge and skills are essential, they must be complemented by strong moral values,
integrity, and perseverance to ensure meaningful and lasting success. Emphasizing the pivotal role of
